I was Skeptical when I received the 24” x 50’ 5mm roll, but after installing 4 sections on the inside of my west facing metal garage door, I got my industrial thermometer and checked the temperature of the inside face of the door. It was over 136° on the under insulated panel and about 103 ° to 105° on the insulated panel. That is a 30° Drop and it measured the same as the drywall wall with brick veneer on the east side. I live in Texas and the door was like a radiator and it is only about 100° Outside now. I may add another layer on the inside face after I complete my installation. I did not use any tape as I was able to fold the edges to fit in the support channels so it insulated them too.
I've been putting this product into my attic, two rolls at a time, over the past two months. what a difference it has made. The back of the house stays warmer longer and I'm anxious to see how this all works out this summer. Also my Hvac guy said I have the nicest looking attic he's ever seen.
This material works very well for reducing heat load in our RV. Even with a high quality windshield sun screen this significantly provides much better sun protection. Also excellent for side windows.
The product really helped my electric bill. I have a historical house with 23 windows. I can't afford to replace them at this time. I will in the near future until I come up with this idea and it works great.
Wow standing next to this, I can feel my body heat reflected back. It takes up no space, cut to fit and I am now able to control the temperature in my grow room. Would buy again.
I used this product to insulate my travel trailer. It really works well as an insulator of heat, you can feel it blocking the cold the minute you apply it to a surface. It is lightweight and easy to cut with scissors. I can easily attach it with a staple gun without worrying about popping air bubbles. I also created a skirt to go around my rv and it worked for that purpose as well.
I ordered this Smart Shield reflective insulation to prepare for a metal roof and I was amazed at how well this worked to keep the heat off the house. It's July and yes, it's roofing time. Sometimes you just do the projects when you can, right? So I ordered this 24"x50ft from Amazon and it made it fine, but when I ordered the 48"x100ft- well, it was undeliverable. Got a refund, and just ordered directly from Insulation Marketplace. They were great! So if you need a lot of this- I suggest going to their website to order. Back to the product review: this is only 3mm, so very thin, but very effective. I just prefer this over the bubbles. I'm sure there are multiple uses for this- indoors/garage, RV, vehicle, etc. It certainly seems worth the price! Great company to work with, too!
We have a skylight in our living room in the vaulted ceiling and it was keeping the living room sooooo hot! It was making the AC run so much more than it should have so we ended up with an electric bill of almost $1000 for an 1800 sf house. We bought a roll of this stuff and double layered it and added a blackout curtain to cover it and our electric bill dropped by about $400! We also put a single layer of it over the drop stairs in the hallway with the white side showing and it has made a huge difference in the temp of the hallway since we did!
I needed insulation in a structure that I'm using as an office and didn't want to deal with fiberglass and all the mess that goes with that. I figured I would give this a try. Don't hesitate, this stuff is incredible. It's thin and light, reflective on both sides, and it's all in one - nothing else needed. No vapor barrier needed, nothing. We literally unrolled it and stapled it up, cut where needed and used aluminum tape for some corners. And you could tell it worked after just finishing the ceiling portion. Once the walls were done as well, you could really tell. It was 10 degrees last night and it was comfortable in the building. Turned on a small heater and the space heated up within 10 minutes. I'm actually sort of blown away, it's so good that we ordered more to do another space and we will use the leftovers in a chicken coop that we are building. It doesn't smell, doesn't tear, is waterproof, rodent proof, mold proof...but mostly EASY to install. It took two 100 foot rolls to do the entire 288 square foot space. Just cut it with scissors or a blade where needed, easy to get around electrical outlets. Easy to hold overhead while stapling it to the ceiling. I'll never buy fiberglass again.
